Project Overview

Location:

Transgulf, Dubai, UAE

Products:

• L-Shape Corner Workstation • Built-in 3 Drawer Storage Unit • Sturdy & Modern Design

Materials:

• Top: 25mm MDF with Laminate Finish • Structure: 18mm MDF • Edge: 2mm PVC Edge Banding

Solution Highlights

The project begins with a full site survey at the Transgulf location in Dubai, where both runs of the L-shape corner are carefully measured, recording the exact lengths, depths, and true corner angle rather than assuming a standard 90 degrees. All nearby power sockets, data ports, skirting details, and wall surfaces are documented and photographed for workshop reference.

Before any material is cut, an 18mm MDF corner template is made to the actual measured angle and test-fitted on site. Once the template is confirmed, a physical sample of the 25mm MDF laminate finish is brought to the room and reviewed under the site’s own lighting conditions. The 2mm PVC edge banding color is matched and approved at the same visit, and the client provides written sign-off on both before fabrication is released.

In the workshop, a complete cutting list and fabrication drawing are issued incorporating the confirmed corner angle. All panels are then cut using a precision beam saw or CNC router, the 25mm MDF laminate top to the full L-shape profile, and all 18mm MDF components for the carcass, including sides, base, back panel, internal dividers, and the three drawer boxes. Hot-melt 2mm PVC edge banding is applied to every exposed edge, flush-trimmed, and hand-scraped to a clean finish. The corner join on the L-shape top receives special attention. It is either post-formed or fully wrapped to ensure no MDF core is left exposed, which is the most critical durability detail in Dubai’s humid climate conditions.

The carcass is then assembled in the workshop using cam locks and dowels. The three drawer runners are fitted, drawer boxes are assembled and trial-fitted to confirm smooth action and flush fronts, and all laminate surfaces are inspected for any chips or banding gaps before the unit is cleared for delivery.

On the installation day, the necessary contractor NOC letter and elevator booking are arranged in advance as required by the Transgulf building. The unit is delivered to site, assembled by a two-person team, leveled, and fitted against the wall at the confirmed corner angle. Drawer operation is re-checked after final positioning. The completed workstation is then inspected across all surfaces, edges, and hardware, photographed for client records and portfolio reference, and formally handed over to the client with sign-off.
